Y6 Dorset Coding Day October 2024

Year 6 participated in the annual Dorset Coding Day in association with Barclays Digital Eagles. This year, we had a visitor from Dorset Council who talked to us about her job and how she uses computing for mapping and transport. We were also really lucky to have two computing students from Weymouth College who joined us and supported during the session. The project this year using Scratch was all about Water Safety. Everyone had a Scratch Playground started and they had to add characters, movements, speech and a life counter for the game. By the end of the session, everyone had created a Water Safety Game where you had to spot the dangers and earn points. Everyone had lots of fun working on their coding projects and playing them at the end.
