Newsletter 5 8 February 2012 Dear
Parents Friends I
would like to say thank you to the Friends for organising the School Discos and
also to staff who stayed to help. I think you will all agree they were a big
success. We raised over £500!! A big thank you also to Lady GaGa for running
the Disco. The
next Friends meeting is Friday 2 March 2pm at the school, they are planning lots
of exciting events for your children, please come along, we would love to see
you. Bad Weather With
this cold weather, can I ask that you ensure all children bring a warm coat, hat
gloves etc. They all spend at least half an hour outside at lunchtime and I find
it incredible that some children don’t have a coat in school. I thought I’d
take this opportunity to remind you of emergency procedures for school closure. We
need to ensure that you are aware of the arrangements if severe weather affects
us and stops the majority of staff from reaching school. We will always make
every effort to keep the school functioning, but if it is impossible to open
because of bad weather, failure of the heating system etc. a notice will be
placed at the school gate and we will also inform the local radio (Wessex FM
97.2) and will text the main mobile contact for your child. You can get accurate
information by listening to the Wessex FM breakfast show or by logging onto: http://mapping.dorsetforyou.com/closedservices If
our school is not mentioned then
every effort should be made to come to school, as we will be open as usual.
Please do not
contact the radio station or the school, because obviously not everyone can
get through at the same time! Should
school ever need to close early due to an emergency we would endeavour to
contact all parents through our parent texting service. To enable these systems
to work efficiently it is vital that we have up to date information about contact numbers. Thank
you for helping us to be prepared, just in case. (Have you changed your mobile number recently and given us your
numbers?) Attendance Attendance
is one of our main priorities for improvement this year. We are really trying to
meet the Government Target of 95%. Please make sure your child attends school
every day and arrives on time. If he/she is ill you must let the school know. Uniform At
Conifers we pride ourselves on how smart our children are in their uniform. With
half term approaching it is a perfect opportunity to ensure your child attends
school with the correct attire. ·
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD’S BELONGINGS ARE
NAMED! ·
Children
in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 should be wearing a school tie. ·

PE kits should be clearly named and remain in
school at all times. ·
Reading book bags need to be brought in everyday. ·
