The Year 5 and 6 team participated in the WeyPort gala on Thursday 16th March. Our thanks to Miss Frampton who has organised the last two house afternoons where the children had the opportunity to take part in an inter - house orienteering competition. The children really enjoyed taking part in the competition, learning about orienteering and looking at some of the Winter Olympic Games. The winning team in the orienteering competition was Gryphon, so well done to the children in Gryphon House!
The football teams enjoyed an afternoon at the Nash Cup on Friday 23rd March. The girls team lost out on making the semi-finals on goal difference but being a year 5 team know they can build on this for next year.
The Boys team, had a successful afternoon, beating Holy Trinity 1-0 (Troy Muir) drawing with Chickerell 1-1 (Corey Vanstone) and narrowly loosing to sat George's. But this meant they progressed to the semi finals and faced Radipole. The final score was 1-1 (Troy
The children dressed up as characters from their favourite books. Well done to them all for their enthusiasm and a big thank you to parents (and staff) who obviously worked tremendously hard on the wonderful costumes! Stick man proved to be very popular as you will see from the photographs.
The netball team have had a successful week on the court. On Wednesday they defeated Southill in the first round of the cup winning 6-0. On Thursday they had a wonderful afternoon at the area tournament in the sunshine. They played St George's winning 8-3 and beat St Andrews 11-0. Unfortunately they lost to Radipole and DMS but they are looking forward to facing Radipole again in the second round of the cup soon.
Our last team day at Conifers took place on the 8th February and was a huge success with all the children learning about Chinese New Year. The children also learnt about the British values of "Individual Liberty," "Mutual Respect" and "Tolerance."
As usual the children swapped classrooms in order to mix with different aged children throughout the school. They had the opportunity to make Chinese fans, Chinese lanterns and Chinese dragons.
Pine class have enjoyed five weeks of swimming lessons as part of their PE curriculum. Lots of children were able to take their first splashes in the big pool, with some even jumping in at the deep end on the final session! Thank you to parents for supporting this.
